Johan van der Linden

 

Johan van der Linden graduated in 1983 as Performance Master Saxophone at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam as a student of Ed Boogaard and attended masterclasses from amongst others Iwan Roth, Daniel Defayet, Frederik Hemke and Francois Daneels. In 1982, together with fellow musicians André Arends, Arno Bornkamp and Willem van Merwijk the Aurelia Saxophone Quartet, that has become one of the most prestigious chamber music ensembles in the world. This famous quartet recorded more than 10 cd’s and performs all over the world.

From 1982 until 1990 Johan van der Linden played saxophone at the Royal Military Band in The Hague. Besides his commitments to the Aurelia Saxophone Quartet and the Dutch Wind Ensemble, he regularly performs with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Residence Orchestra and Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. Besides all of this, he frequently plays as a soloist, gives master classes and composes/arranges many pieces. Johan is also professor at the Utrecht Conservatory and ArtEZ Conservatory in Enschede.
